UH OH! I’ve Got Heat Damage!

Yes its true.

I won’t try to hide it,

I wont deny it,

Yes I do have heat damage.

After contemplating for some time if that’s actually what it was, I looked at some of my old pictures and some of my new. My wash N Go then and my wash N go now and I concluded that my experiment was effective.

I used the BabyLiss Nano Titanium Pro on my hair at 450 degrees. Now I know that hair burns at that level but being the risk taker that I am, I decided to go for the gut and the goal and see what would happen. Well now that I have, I can safely say that if you do decided to buy the babyliss flat iron, don’t set it that high. Lol . I have never had heat damage all over from a flat iron. The temperature and those titanium plates did it for me. I know what my hair can handle and what it can’t from now on.

Yea I know right! I’m not about to pull my hair out over it though lol.

I have been asked this question time and time again but you do not have to BC in order to recover from heat damage, you can but im not. I choose to grow it out and baby my hair. Now mind you, heat damage is not reversible. The protein in my hair has been weakened.

THE PLAN

  • Get rid of THAT particular flat iron (done)
  • Protective style way more i.e yarn braids, wet buns, sew-ins, mini twists, braids
  • Blow dry no more than twice a year ( if I even decide to do this)
  • Regimen will consist of 2x protein treaments a month, deep conditioner, 2x a month, moisturize and seal 3x a week, clarify once a week, oil rinse 2x a month , cowash once or twice a week
  • Cut down on parabens and silicons ( got a little carried away with it)

 

Did you notice I said absolutely nothing about trimming? Well that’s because I just did a little trim on my hair and since it will be put away 99% of the time, there is no need to go hacking away at the ends of my hair just cuz I “feel” like I need a trim.

Im excited though! I get to go on a new journey!

A Few Hours In My Life: Happy Birthday Carla!

HELLO WORLD!

Join me as I celebrate the birth of my once baby sister, Carla. Yesterday ( Jan 26th) she made 19. I can’t take this growing up stuff.

I have 5 sisters and she was my first baby sister. That’s my heart yall. I love that kid.. well she’s not so much of a kid anymore. I recorded us singing happy birthday so join us in singing and wishing her a happy one!

Weigh In For Jan 6th. Did I Lose 2 Lbs?

It’s the moment of truth

Did I lose the 2lbs? Did I is the question.

My original post made on Dec 29th was to lose 2lbs by Jan 6th.

During this time i tried my best to stick to my diet but i will not lie to you,
I fell off in the last 2 weeks but what is my motto? EARN WHAT YOU EAT! Along with some healthy stuff, i managed to consume some bad stuff too

  • Banana Fosters Waffle
  • Ice Cream
  • Oreo Cookies
  • Oatmeal Cookies and Brownie Cookies
  • Manchu’s Chicken and a 500 calorie Cinabun

Can you say lack of self control? IT’S THAT DAMN SUGAR! I GOTTA HAVE IT! It’s supposed to be in moderation. See, no i am not perfect, i struggle just like everyone else.

I still had veggies and meats, protein shakes, TONS of water in all that but i had my fair share of falling off

But did i lose it?

Dec 29th i was 168 lbs.

Today, on Jan 6th, I am 165.4 lbs!

So despite the crazy eating, yes, i did lose the a little over 2lbs! Just imagine what i would weigh if i would have stuck completely to it -____-

Next Goal: Lose 3lbs by Jan 20th and a 1/2in off of my abs. This is going to be interesting..

Current measurements:

Bust -40

Waist – 32

Abs – 36

Hips – 41

Thighs – 23

Arms – 12

Neck – 14

JUNE – AUG 2011 WEIGHT: 170′s RANGE

Yes i have some work to do but one thing i can tell you is, i may not be there yet, but im closer than i was yesterday.

Yall, it’s getting serious. My birthday is Feb 19th and i am going to the Drake Concert on the 25th for it.

I WILL look good on this day. So many years i have said, “oh im going to be this size when i turn this age or this size or that size”

It’s not that i was trying to lie about it, it’s just that i couldn’t muster up the energy or the drive to do it. That was until i stepped on the scale and realized that i am now lbs.

O___O !

My reaction was like WTF?!? How did that even happen!? Ever since i got home i have been doing nothing but eating ANY AND EVERYTHING. Yes i would stop myself and throw in some veggies here and there but it wasn’t anything major or consistent. I would run maybe twice a week at the most but to have maintained this weight loss is astounding to me.  I feel like i should be at least 176 or something. I actually lost 2 lbs through all the madness.

#Pause. There are some drawbacks to eating what i want though and doing the bare minimal exercising.

  • I’m not as tight and toned as i was when i got back home in August
  • I can’t run 3 miles without taking a break
  • It is EXTREMELY difficult to stick with Insanity again once you have stopped
  • It’s hard to stay away from sugar and all the bad stuff once you start eating again

I guess they don’t call it a weight loss journey for nothing.

It takes 3000 cals to burn 1lb of fat off. So far, my Cardio Trainer (app on android phone) says i have burned 1500 in the past 7 days from running 2 miles for 5 days. That’s not too bad. I burned half a lb. Hopefully it won’t sneak back on.

SO the plan is 2lbs every 2 weeks. I may be underestimating that goal but i find that it is better to underestimate weight loss goals than to OVERESTIMATE weight loss goals. Then my friend you are setting yourself up for failure. If you don’t have any goals at all, your setting yourself up for failure as well.

Today i went to the store and bought

  • Green tea (tea bags… crap i forgot to get lemons -___-)
  • Orange Juice
  • V8
  • 2 cases of 24 12 oz Dasani waters

I have a big of corn on the cob , corn in cans, peas in cans, stir fry mix and chicken in the freezer. I mean of course the cans aren’t in the freezer.

The green tea is for the sugar cravings. I usually sweeten it with half honey and half sugar. But i forgot to get honey too -_________- .. so it will just be sugar. I don’t use a lot though. I drink it with my lunch.

In a nut shell?

PLAN: LOSE 2LBS IN 2 WEEKS BY JAN6TH (I STARTED ON DEC 23RD), LOW CARB, RUNNING IN THE MORNING, RUNNING UP STAIRS IN THE MORNING, DOING INSANITY AT NIGHT OR ABOUT 2 HOURS AFTER I COME FROM MY RUN, INTAKE TONS OF VEGGIES, TONS OF WATER

I know somewhere in there i am going to have some chocolate or something because i would be lying if i told yall that bullshit lie that i won’t be eating any ice cream or sugar but i will let you know when i do it :)
