What is your name and your profession? Monica, I am a higher education marketing and advertising professional by day, a commercial model and actress sometimes and a hair blogger and healthy hair enthusiast all the time! Why did you go natural? I've been natural off and on throughout life...I'd just relax my hair when I would cut it into short styles. The last time I cut my hair off was in 2008 to get rid of some permanent color. After that, I relaxed one more time then decided to grow it out, naturally, in 2009. I love my natural texture, especially since now there are products that make it easier to style…in the 90’s there was nothing for “our” hair, so being natural was hard, and I never stuck with it. How long have you been natural and when did you BC? (see previous answer) What are your staple products and hairstyles? My wash-n-go lasts for days! I can pin-up sides, twist sections to the back, do a side pineapple with scarf or pull it into a big, curly ponytail. I can get about a week out of a wash-n-go by wearing it down the first 3-4 days and then styling the other 3-4 days. I love it! I am always enjoying Mixed Chicks Leave-In, Organix dry oil spray, Crème of Nature’s Perfect 7, Agadir Argan Oil products, Scruples shampoo and conditioner, Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa, Chi Deep Brilliance oil, Elasta QP Olive Oil/Mango Butter and Eco Styler Olive Oil gel. What are your natural hair goals? My only goal is to always have healthy, full hair. I don’t really dwell on length goals because that will have you obsessive and crazed…I just want my hair to be healthy. How do you keep your hair intact overnight? I pineapple my wash-n-go or just do a silk scarf and bonnet combo if my hair is blown-out or straightened. [gallery type="rectangular" ids="5302,5303,5304,5305,5306,5307,5301" orderby="rand"] How do you maintain length? I make sure to consistently care for my hair with deep conditioning, minimal heat, good eating habits, and drinking lots of water to prevent breakage. And preventing breakage retains my length. Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural. I love, love, LOVE the versatility you can have with natural hair. I get bored easily and like to change my look often. Having the option to manipulate the texture of my hair with a wash-n-go, or bantu knots and rod sets, and even buns and other updos makes me love my natural hair! Where else can we find you on the net? My website is moknowshair.com All of my social media (IG, FB, YT, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Twitter) are "mo knows hair"
