How long have you been natural and when did you BC?
I BC’d and have been natural since August 2003. Transitioned for about 2 years, snipping here and there until I had a length I was comfortable with.
What are your staple products and hairstyles?
My staples are products that allow me to retain my length, which would include twists and twist outs. Product-wise, the only true staples that have worked consistently over the years are Elucence MBC and Cantu Shea Butter Leave in(off the top of my head), although I do use other products that have offered consistency as well, such as Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer. I also love my Ayurvedic herbs and try to use them whenever I have the time. They’ve been great for my hair.
What is your regimen?
Simplicity. I keep my hair in protective styles; restyling/washing/conditioning every week to every other week. I’m trying out new products right now, so my product routine is all over the place at the moment.
What are your natural hair goals?
My goal is to continue growing healthy hair. I’ve already reached waist-length, so I know it can grow. I just want to continue maintaining the health of my hair.
How do you keep your hair intact overnight?
I use an interesting looking satin scarf. It basically has a huge pocket that you stick your hair in, and just tie in the back. And since I keep my hair in twists and wear twist outs, it keeps both looking fresh without flattening them out
How do you maintain length?
Protective styling has been the key in maintaining my length, along with eating as healthy as possible.
Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.
I missed my natural hair.
