How long have you been natural and when did you BC?
My last perm was August 5, 2009 and I have been growing it out ever since. I let go of the weaves and proudly rocked my kinks on July 9, 2010. I didn’t BC, but I would cut the permed ends with every shampoo and whenever I stayed in the mirror a little too long lol
What are your staple products and hairstyles?
Initially I was only good at bantu knot outs, but my two strand twistout is the best thing ever! I can’t live without my water/glycerin/grape seed oil/castor oil/shea butter oil mix and my Curls defining cream.
What is your regimen?
I shampoo every weekend, and DC with mayo, oil/water mix, honey, milk, and EVOO. I use a heating cap and rinse with cool water, and style while wet. Works wonders!
What are your natural hair goals?
I want length!! I want my hair to be healthy and on my shoulders. I haven’t had long hair since I was a little girl, (and natural) and I want that feeling back. I want to prove to others that natural hair is the way to go and let my long, healthy hair be the proof.
How do you keep your hair intact overnight?
I never lay down without my satin bonnet. I also make sure it’s moisturized before I go to sleep and spray it with my mix if it seems dry.
How do you maintain length?
Since I went natural in July, I have worn 3 protective styles, and every time I take my hair down, its noticeably longer. I also finger comb my hair and treat it very gently. So I must say its the protective styling, and TLC.
Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.
I have too many answers! lol! I actually went natural by accident! I just wanted to grow my hair out (from a “Rihanna cut”) and leave the perms alone since it made my hair dull and lifeless. I love being natural because it has made me super knowledgeable about hair care and has shown me that what God has blessed me with is amazing, and I don’t need to change a thing about it!
