I ran across these 2 best friends on youtube and became SO eager to talk to them because their hair is beautful!

How long have you been natural and when did you BC?

I have been natural for 9 years. I did my first BC around 2002 and did my second BC 12/1/2009!

What are your staple products and hairstyles?

I love organic coconut oil for shine, MJ Buttercreme for moisture and sets, and ECO for that slick look! Since cutting my hair I have been playing with a lot of different styles so I can’t quite say I have a staple yet. I am still experimenting and trying out new looks!

What are your natural hair goals?

To maintain long, healthy, natural hair. I want to get the most out of my natural curl pattern while keeping my hair as healthy as possible. And finding a couple of fierce, low maintenance, styles are always on my agenda!

How do you keep your hair intact overnight?

Depending on the style I either use my silk scarf and/or my satin bonnet. I wear my satin bonnet inside out so the elastic edge doesn’t leave a mark on my head. And I find that the outside of the satin bonnet is smoother than the inside.

How do you maintain length?

I do regular deep conditions (about once a week when I’m not being lazy), I clarify regularly with a pH balanced shampoo, and my daily routine is to run leave in conditioner in my hair, followed by a moisturizer, and sealed with organic coconut oil. It seems to be working at keeping my hair moisturized, shiny, and reducing shedding!

Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.

I went natural because my scalp was extremely sensitive to relaxers (which I had been getting since the age of 7). I love being natural because of the versatility. I love the freedom of being able to wear my hair straight (which is rare) or curly, wild or tame!

How long have you been natural and when did you BC?

I have been natural since 2002. I have never done a big chop (so to speak). A natural hairstylist was referred to me by Ebonyknots. I simply transitioned and grew my perm out. My hair was about cheek length when I started the process.

What are your staple products and hairstyles?

My current staple products are Organix Coconut Milk Hair Serum (oil) for shine, Miss Jessies Buttercreme/Cantu Shea Butter for super defined and soft twist outs. Glycerin, rosemary oil and water spritz (for moisture). I love how defined my curls are and the volume when I do a twist outs. My current staple hair style is the 2 strand twists. I change my styles pretty often so I have not found a true staple product line yet.

What are your natural hair goals?

My goal is to get my hair completely healthy, and grow it to one length and possibly grow it to bra strap length. My hair was once cut into a layered style and it is still trying to catch up in some places. :)

How do you keep your hair intact overnight?

At night, if my hair is in a twist out style at night I re-twist my hair and sometimes curl the ends with perm rods and cover with a silk bonnet. I also have a silk pillow case for those nights when I want to give my hair air or air dry if I have applied water and/or glycerin.

How do you maintain length?

Protective styling is a must! I try to maintain a hairstyle for a maximum of two weeks. I rarely use heat except for when I may have to sit under a dryer for a couple of hours for a quick dry. I detangle while conditioning my hair and also give myself a deep conditioning treatment every time I wash my hair. (about 3-4 times a month). Lately, I have been giving myself trims or dusting my ends.

Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural. With perms my hair was always shedding and I always wear it in braids. I like to experiment with new hairstyles and trying products that use natural ingredients. I absolutely love being natural!
