How long have you been natural and when did you BC?

I will be three years natural in September, 2010. I went natural many times through out the years trying to get away from relaxers and heat. Unfortunately, I was a people pleaser and ended up going back to relaxers. On September of 2007, I decided that it was time that I did my own thing for me and not for others. I am so glad that I did.

What are your staple products and hairstyles?
My staple product would be Castor oil moisturizing lotion, and 8 wonder oil to keep my ends moisturize. Wheat germ deep conditioning cream for deep conditioningor co-wash. I like to wear my hair in an afro most of the time. Sometimes, I twist my hair into big coils like a little girl. :-) Now that is so hot outside, I normally braid my hair or pull it back into a puff.

What is your regimen?

I like to deal with my hair one day at a time. I am not the routine type since I get bored easily. I normally shampoo my hair with DevaCurls no-poo once a week and co-wash every other day with DevaCurls one-conditioner. When I can’t afford to buy DevaCurls product, I use infusion 23 shampoo and conditioner for dry hair since my hair is really dry. I like to moisturize my hair with lots of h20 and a little of castor oil moisturizing lotion. I seal the moisture with 8 wonder oil. Once every two weeks, I deep condition my hair with Wheat Germ Conditioner. I don’t oil my scalp since is too oily. Its weird because my ends are always dry. I recently started using shea butter and avocado oil for additional moisture and I love it.

What are your natural hair goals?

My goal is to have very healthy hair. I would like some length at least shoulder length. Right now, my main goal is to keep my ends very moisturized without a lot of tangling. The length will take its turn as the hair gets healthier.

How do you keep your hair intact overnight?

When I wear my hair in an afro, I just stuff my hair in my satin bonnet and fluff it out the next day without a hassle. Any other time, I part my hair in sections, moisturize the ends, braid it and then wear my satin bonnet to go to sleep.

How do you maintain length?
I have noticed that my hair started growing ever since I started using the Castor oil moisturizing lotion. I like to eat healthy and drink lots of water. I think that a big part of maintaining length is eating healthy and giving my hair lots of moisture.

Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.

I went natural to feel free of the relaxed hair regimen. I never enjoyed the burnt scalp or the roller setting to achieve volume. I love being natural because is who I am and my hair is beautiful in its natural state. My natural hair fits my personality and looks.
