Whats your name and profession?
My name is Jasmine Clark and I’m a housing officer supporting adults with various mental health issues to find accommodation and get back into employment and training.
How long have you been natural and when did you BC?
I have been natural since 2009, I transitioned for two years gradually cutting off all the relaxed ends and becoming fully natural.
What are your staple products and hairstyles?
Trevor Sorbie beautiful curls spray for curl definition and dark and lovely corrective leave in conditioner along with cantu shea butter repair cream for retaining moisture in my hair. I tend not to use a lot of products in my hair because I don’t feel it needs it, I’ve found what works for me and I’ve stuck with it since.
I like to have my hair out and for it to look as big as possible as I feel like it makes my face look more alive and gives my face more character.
What is your regimen?
I shampoo once a week with coconut milk organix sulfree free shampoo, co wash three times a week using the moroccon argan oil organix conditioner. I give my hair a protein treatment every six to eight weeks using the organic root stimulator hair mayonnaise and also use any sulphate shampoo once a month to cleanse the hair of all the build-up. I also seal my ends with water, coconut, castor, jojoba and rosemary oils all mixed up together
What are your natural hair goals?
In terms of length I am comfortable with where it’s at and wouldn’t really mind how much longer it grows. My hair goal really is just to maintain good health because although I do try to be cautious of what goes into my hair I still love to dabble in colour which tends to make my hair dry out alot more.
How do you keep your hair intact overnight?
I really do hate having to wrap up my hair so I tend to just tie it really high up and sleep on a satin pillow case rather than using a satin bonnet or scarve.
How do you maintain length?
I try to make sure my hair is never dry, I take my spritz bottle everywhere I go! Which contains a mixture of water and aloe Vera juice.
Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.
I went natural purely because I thought it would be a cheaper option for me as I was a student without a part time job at the time. I love being natural and the confidence it brings to me. I feel proud to be able to embrace what I’ve been blessed with.
